1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Sold for $35 Million
There are just a few billionaires in the world able to purchase ultra rare classic cars like this 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, that was recently sold for a mind-whopping $35 million. Some of the rarest and most expensive cars in the world, models of 250 GTO Ferraris have been sold all along history for incredible amounts of money.
Following a $26 million record breaking sale that has taken place just a few years ago, then a $32 million different trade just a few months ago, the car we’re featuring now has toppled both the sales. The greatest feature of this particular vehicle you can admire in the photos is that it was originally built for Sir Sterling Moss.
Sadly, the character had never had the opportunity to race it because of his crash in 1962 at the Goodwood Circuit at Sussex that nearly claimed his life. The unfortunate event represented the end of Moss’ career, although his teammate, Innes Ireland, had taken the car and raced it on the occasion of the 1962 Le Mans, ending the car’s “racing career” pretty much abruptly.
The previous owner of this 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO had bought it for $8.4 million some time ago. Apart from owning a precious contraption in his garage, the car has quadrupled its value in the meantime. The total 39 Ferrari 250 GTOs to have been built between 1962 and 1964 will definitely increase in value as time goes by, being eligible to come with expected or unexpected profits for their owners.
