It turns out there are giant bodies attached to the heads on Easter Island. The statues were created from the volcanic rock by ancient Polynesians between 100 AD to 1800.The carved statues even contain carved art on the outer portions of their bodies.
The Rapa Nui people from the island are contributing to the excavations.
These statues include crescents carved on the backs of the towering monoliths, which is said to represent the canoes of the Polynesians who made them. The exposed bodies of statues were hidden under the ground because of land erosion.
